One in three women experiences sexual assault during her lifetime
According to the World Health Organization, approximately 35% of women worldwide experience physical sexual assault during their lifetime.(1)
One in five women experiences rape or attempted rape
Various studies around the world present data according to which between 20% and 25% of women experience rape, or an attempted rape, during their lifetime.(4,5)

One in five girls experiences sexual assault

According to other estimates from around the world, 20%-30% of women have been abused as children – with at least half of them being abused by family members.(10,11)
According to the Triana Project study, about a third (29.7%) of sexual abuse among Jewish boys and girls up to the age of 16 occurred within the family. As for Arab society, it was found that two-thirds of the boys and girls who reported sexual abuse were abused within the family.(6)

Up to the age of 12, the rate of boys who are sexually abused is the same as the rate of girls
Various studies from around the world have shown that the rate of boys who are sexually abused before the age of 12 is the same as the rate of girls who are sexually abused in the same age group.
According to the Triana Project study, even at later ages – up to the age of 16 – the rate of victimization among boys is only one and a half percent lower than the rate of victimization among girls.(6)
In addition, about 20% of complaints about sexual offenses to the police are filed regarding harm to children, boys and men.(12)
